Chrysler Building (left)
The Chrysler Building was completed in 1930 and is considered one of the most important Art Deco structures. The 318-meter-high skyscraper was commissioned by the Chrysler Corporation and designed by architect William Van Alen. Particularly characteristic are the gleaming stainless steel spire and the elaborate ornamentation, which still make the building one of New York's most beautiful skyscrapers today.
