East Side Gallery (left)
The East Side Gallery opened in 1990 and is now the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall. Over a length of around 1.3 kilometers, a permanent open-air gallery was created with artworks by international artists. The painted sections of the wall serve as a reminder of the period of German division and are considered a symbol of freedom and reunification.
Oberbaumbrücke (right)
The Oberbaumbrücke was built between 1894 and 1896 in the Neo-Gothic style according to the plans of architect Otto Stahn. It connects the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg and is now considered a landmark of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. After reunification, the bridge was extensively restored and modernized according to designs by architect Santiago Calatrava. The striking towers and red bricks make the Oberbaumbrücke one of Berlin's most beautiful bridges.
